Dead Blood Volume I

The Vanguards began as a cult-like team of scientists that brutally experimented on people in order to evolve humanity. Their descendants developed superhuman powers. Thousands of years later, those descendants rule a kingdom rife with betrayal, forgotten enchantments and lost lore.

Our story begins in Westerviolet, the realm of the Brochets. Their bloodline is the most beautiful and charismatic, but also closest to extinction. There are only three Brochets remaining.

Young Lady Rose must prepare to attend Academy, meeting other Vanguard children for the first time. Her mother, Sybil, is commanded to accompany her to find a new husband, but she is fiercely focused on another dream. Sybil wants to be Queen. 

​

She sends her love-struck henchman Digory, a dangerous elite Guardsman, on a perilous journey to further her elevated plans. 

Sybil and Rose arrive at Animus Rock, first to attend the annual Equinox Ball. All heads turn, even the music stops, when Sybil descends the stairs. She brings an enchanted book discovered at Westerviolet and uncovers secrets thought long buried. She sits on Council, interacting with Vanguards Old and New.

Rose is educated at the Third Tower, meeting children of other bloodlines for the first time. She walks through Eden, experiencing the mysterious maze for the first time as well. 

​

Digory finds himself in bind after bind, traveling through the Kingdom in order to fulfill Sybil's wishes. 

​

Rhain Dale is a tortured soul, combatting the pulsing red hallucinations in his vision the only way he knows how. 

​

Wolfgar Norland, one of the infamous Bloody Norlands, is sent on a quest by Basil Graves and the Echo's Omen Brotherhood to investigate a "New Rebellion". 

Sybil conspires with the powerful and feared Hector Graves, altering the trajectory of the Kingdom forever. 

​

Old plots are revealed, adding depth and texture to the ever-unraveling Vanguard Kingdom lore. 

​

Rose learns more about her classmates, and the brutal history of the Vanguard Kingdom. 

​

Digory travels through the legendary Wind Valley and finds himself in Graceview. It is nothing like anyone thought. 

​

By the time Book 3 is complete, everything has changed and it is clear that the story is just beginning.
